This is sad.

How long is it going to take until we get to this point with gay marriage? I’m looking forward to the day when we officially recognize that banning gay marriage is nothing but uninformed bigotry. It doesn’t affect me, but we all should be happen when injustices are remedied.

Yeah.. almost went to jail for protesting the Montana Marriage Protection Act. I was protesting in front of a group trying to gather signatures and the election judge came and told my brother and I that we couldn’t be there without having a permit. We argued that as private citizens and not representatives of a group or political organization we had every right to be there and stood our ground. After she threatened to call the police we went and stood outside on the sidewalk. The police eventually came and harassed us. We weren’t saying anything. We weren’t yelling. We were just standing with signs. Several people even asked us what group we were with and if we wanted to work with their organization. Then were surprised that we would take the time to protest and had the balls to as just a couple of pissed off citizens. Anyway, the officer never asked us to move. He never said we were doing anything wrong. He asked for our names and address and we provided it to him. Then he demanded identification. I refused to give him identification even though I had my wallet. He said that he was going to arrest me then. I asked what for. He said for not showing my ID. I asked what law I was breaking. He said he’d come up with something and that I’d have to sit in jail until the judge could sort it out in the morning. He had me put my hands behind my back and the cuffs out but at that point I figured it wasn’t worth going to jail and told him I’d let him see my ID. He took a quick glance at it and then left. Didn’t say a damn thing or ask us to leave. We wished him a good day as he walked back to his car. I wish I would have thought to get his name or badge number.

I’m not sure why, but Spam Karma really hates you. I’ll try to get it so you can comment and they actually show up right away.
