Linux fun

I have a test and another phone interview tomorrow. Which is why I decided to distract myself and install Ubuntu for the second time. It works well for the most part, as it did last time. I can’t get my external sound card to work, which isn’t a big deal. I’m playing with Java and Eclipse, which has given me a little trouble. On the other hand, it sees my external hard drive.

UPDATE: Ok, so Java works, but I still can’t get JMF to work.

UPDATE: JMF works, except that now I can’t seem to play any media files (I could listen to mp3s off my external drive last night). And, on an unrelated note, I think my external sound card just broke. I’m not fucking happy.

Ubuntu is pure, distilled, unadulterated happiness pressed into CD/ISO form and distributed with extra side orders of glee.

I can’t wait for Dapper: they’re finally using Alan Cox’s kernel patch for ITE821x chips, so I’ll be able to access my storage drives. Everybody and their mother has been using the patch since 2.6.11 or so, but of course I don’t give a damn about SuSe or Fedora Core.
