More about Wikipedia

I missed this story from Thursday on Wikipedia edits by Congressional staff. We’re treated to another stupid quote from Burns’s spokesman:

“I don’t know why this is a story,” said James Pendleton, a spokesman for Burns. “There is no sanctity in Wikipedia. Somebody will always come and change it.” He declined to comment on Wikipedia’s assertion that some of the changes came from his office.

Maybe it’s a story because people on Burns’s staff removed accurate but embarrassing information? How about because they replaced it with a fawning, fact-free paragraph? Maybe even because it shows those staffers are dishonest and immature. I think the answer is in there somewhere.

The fact that Wikipedia isn’t perfect is not an excuse for distorting its contents in your favor. Seems pretty clear to me. I guess it isn’t for the people working for our Senator.
