Coulter at CPAC

Sure, “raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences” is offensive and plenty of people are talking about it, but much more offensive was what she said when confronted about it:

Things got more interesting when she opened the floor to questions from the audience. Here’s a telling exchange between Coulter and a student representative from Muslims for America, a conservative group who was a sponsor and had a booth in the exhibition hall at CPAC:

Student: …I apologize on behalf of the Muslim terrorists, but you have to understand there’s 1.5 billion with a ‘B’ [Muslims in the world] and there are .0000005 that did the terrorism, when you call people ragheads–and I met the president, I mean, he asked me to come work for him, I met the vice president–I mean it kind of turns a lot of Muslim Americans off, and it’s kind of hard to recruit them… (unintelligible because of clapping) please, please, please, please, don’t say raghead.

Coulter: You know, ok. I made a few jokes, and they killed 3000 Americans–fair trade (cheering comes in so she doesn’t have to actually answer a difficult question from a supporter).

I really can’t say anything. The fact that the audience clapped after that is just…

    … telling? … indicative? … disgusting?

My cynicism grows. I believe that a small majority of folks in this country actually want a holy war, without ever understanding what that means, or even grasping that that’s what they desire.

Coulter is pretty up front that she wants a holy war. No, she doesn’t seem to understand how bad that would be.

After this whole cartoon fiasco, I really wanted focus my artistic abilities to make a bunch of muslims really mad. I guess it’s just the antagonistic nature of the artist. Anyway, I sat on it, and I realized that I didn’t want to be like that, even if there are a bunch of psychos in the muslim world who need to be “outed”. I have friends who are Muslim and aren’t crazy, and I never would want to offend them. So I felt bad and shelved what would have been an unbelievably offensive (but extremely funny by western standards) idea.

Ann on the other hand uses hate like a drug. I think she knows that, but suppresses her Christian morality. She makes her money being provocative after all. Unfortunately, being provocative right now gets people killed. Not letting Muslims off the hook, this is only a problem because their religion institutionalizes hate and dominance in a way that the rest of the civilized world rejected 600 years ago.
