Damn lack of artistic skills

September 3, 2005 Leave a comment Go to comments

I’ve gone through a ton of audio players lately. When I got my Zen Touch a couple weeks ago I switched from iTunes to musikCube. While musikCube is nice, the crappy tagging abilities sent me looking for something better. So, I switched to Winamp. That worked ok, but I liked the way iTunes would rename my mp3s and move them according the directory structure I set up. Plus, Winamp is a little resource heavy. So, I finally decided to try Foobar 2000. I first downloaded it before I switched to musikCube, but was sort of put off by the fact that it requires some patience to set up. Happily, it seems to have everything I want. I can do mass renaming and relocation of files (granted, not automatically, but whatever) and I can write id3v2 tags again.

However, anyone who’s used Foobar 2000 knows you can pretty much make it look however you want fairly easily. That leads me to the same problems I have with designing web sites: I have no design skills, but I’m fairly picky about what things look like. So I’ve spent not an insignificant amount of time playing with that and I’m still not entirely happy.

Anyway, that’s your pointless Saturday post this week.

Go back to the wondrous musikCube, and use the equally wondrous MP3Tag to tag your MP3s 🙂

A separate program for tagging? Boo.

Ignore Rob: Foobar2000 is all you need.

I don’t need dynamic playlists enough to switch back to musikCube. That’s really the only thing I miss.
