Just in time
I see that I’ve arrived back in Bozeman at exactly the right time: Vern Smalley has a letter in today’s Chronicle.
Homosexuals should never be given the right to adopt
I am not saying that gay men are pedophiles, but eventually a baby boy adopted by a single gay or a gay couple will reach the age when he is invited to share his Dad’s “love” with indecent sex. If that thought makes you sick, you have my company. We need to ensure no adopted child suffers that fate, and if it means open rebellion against politicians to prevent it, so be it.
…
No, I don’t hate homosexuals….
Maybe the best one yet.

I knew that was Vern when I read the first word of the headline. Only Vern can write a letter so stupid that even the word “homosexual” screams “PERVERT” right off the page.
What an idiot. Did it ever occur to that writer that sometimes straight men (and even women) are perverted, and “invite” their kids to “share” their “love” too?
I take it Vern is a local character who avails himself of the Letters to the Editor column to rail against whatever bugs him.
There was a character like that when I lived in Colorado who did the same to the Longmont Times-Call. He was a bachelor farmer with a big sheep ranch, and he really had issues with homosexuals. Figure it out.
What’s next? Blacks wanting the right to vote? Imagine!
Suggesting that gays and/or lesbians would invite their kids to share their love and indecent sex is misplaced. While I think the BEST place for a child to be adopted is to a heterosexual couple, I don’t think a gay or lesbian couple would necessarily bring the kids into their sex lives. Homosexuals are not more likely to sexually abuse children. I would definitely prefer a mom and a dad for them, because each gives them something different that they can’t get from the other. That said, I am sure a gay or lesbian home is far preferrable to an ophanage or succession of foster homes.
Rationalize all you want. The morons and idiots are
those who think they can drag society down through
the gutter and into the sewer without a fight from
those of us who don’t have our minds below another
man’s belt.
Aww, homophobes are so adorable.
Years later, I know – but:
And what about those of you with your minds below another man’s casket? Does that day still haunt you, Vern? It should. You should have been convicted. We will never forget what you did.
