Smacking by childminders to be banned:
“Tens of thousands of childminders are to be banned from smacking.
In one of the most significant anti-smacking moves since corporal
punishment was outlawed in state schools in the 1980s, 70,000
childminders in England will be prevented from smacking or using any
form of corporal punishment against children under eight, even if they
have the written consent of the parents.”
Not really relevant to anything I normally talk about, but using
“smacking” in there just sounds funny. “Anti-smacking moves.” Weird
